Heritage Christian's Kaitlyn Gilbert: 'Mind-blowing' to be a McDonald's All-American

Kelly Faris is something of folklore around the Heritage Christian (Ind.) girls basketball juggernaut, as the program’s first McDonald’s All-American and WNBA star, and a deciding factor in why Kaitlyn Gilbert chose to join the Eagles’ program for high school.

And the last couple of years, the Notre Dame-bound guard has had the opportunity to know her on a personal level, taking pointers from her on taking an increased defensive aggression, and being reminded of just how hard the next level of basketball will be.
And so, the magnitude of joining the Heritage legend and former UConn star as the program’s only McDonald’s All-Americans wasn’t lost on her.
“I’m just grateful for the experience,” Gilbert said following a small ceremony where she was presented her McDonald’s All-American jersey before nearly 70 friends and family

Shareef O'Neal commits to UCLA, three days after decommiting from Arizona

Just three days after decommitting from Arizona, Crossroads School (Santa Monica, Calif.) wing Shareef O’Neal is back off the board, this time to UCLA, according to multiple reports.
Back in December, O’Neal told USA Today Sports that Arizona was “family” and that he planned on “sticking with the family unless something happens.”

Five-star junior PG Ashton Hagans decommits from Georgia, stays put in 2019

Two months ago, Newton (Covington, Ga.) point guard Ashton Hagans committed to Georgia, giving head coach Mark Fox his first five-star recruit since joining the staff in 2009.
On Monday, Hagans decided to back out of that commitment, according to his Game Elite (Ga.) coach Chris Williams.
Early reports had Hagans also reclassifying from 2019 to 2018, but Williams shot that news down saying, “He is still currently 2019 and focused on being the best player in that class
