Reclassifying opens up options for Memphis high school hoops star Mark Freeman

For Mark Freeman, the decision to reclassify to the class of 2019 and put his college basketball career on hold for another year wasn’t an easy one. But it’s one that he hopes will pay off.
And his summer team should afford him plenty of opportunities to showcase himself.
Freeman — the all-state point guard from Southwind — said Monday that he will play this summer with the Bluff City Legends on the EYBL circuit. The Legends are the old Team Penny organization that was renamed after its founder, Penny Hardaway, took over the head coaching job at the University of Memphis

VIDEO: The wondergoal of the soccer weekend came from a 13-year-old in Atlanta

There are few things better than a soccer wondergoal and the reaction it inspires from overzealous announcers. This example misses the second factor, but there’s a good reason: It was scored by a 13-year-old in Georgia.
As disseminated by Atlanta United’s Twitter account, Atlanta United U-13 midfielder Luke Brennan found his way into the penalty box during a weekend match and produced what may stand up as the most clinical and creative finish of his career. Brennan tracked an in-swinging cross, got just enough separation from his defender and then elevated for a genuine, Cristiano Ronaldo-esque bicycle kick.

Pick that one out!

“I tried to hit the ball as hard as I could,” said Gorman, a senior third baseman who is projected to be a first-round MLB draft pick in June. “Cut the lead in half and good things happen after that.”
Actually, Gorman’s three-run blast brought O’Connor back from a 6-2 deficit to 6-5 with two outs in the fourth inning off starter Brandon Childers, who had walked seven and gave up his first hit before Gorman delivered
